The House on the Road to the Sea
I have always loved this old house...it's right down the road from the Andrews and on the way to Claudias....The fence is particularly wonderful in the afternoon light....watercolor 22x30"
I like this house too. I call it the Paquin's. I have never been inside. But I would happily stay there during the summer when I can't stay in my own houses and have to stay in a chicken coop. . .
When we first bought our house, in about 1955, the house in your picture belonged to an old gentleman named Bill Dunn.
ReplyDeleteThere was a long low chicken shed to the left of the little shed, as well. I think it's gone now.
Every summer, Mr. Dunn would rent out the big house and move into the chicken coop.
He would lean on his fence, by the side of the road, and lament his fate. I was only five or six, but it alarmed me.
My memories of this, of course, are dim. But now we do the same thing. Sort of.
I remember chicken fence also...I also remember days that we lament our fate...that seems to be also in the past thanks to Emmet Fox and crew...
ReplyDeleteWell, what I really meant was we all move into the chicken coop, figuratively if not literally, for the 10 week summer season.
ReplyDeleteahh... the life of the little chicken....
