Gulls at the North Light

an incredible afternoon at the lighthouse...the gulls were going crazy...the sky was blue..the lighthouse was powerful in it's stone presence out there on that spit of sand dunes....the afternoon light was intense...the roses were blooming....I did the best I could.....watercolor  22"x30"

I like the function of zooming in. What stands out then is the joyful and free play of colors dancing together- red, ochres, blues. A wonderful play created by a response to the sensations that scene had flow through you in the moment, and now me as I respond to it. Love the birds too. What would the world look like through their perspective!

well that is a good question....one wonders...I am reading a book about an artist that gets into what Audubon saw reflected in the bird's eye...the gulls were actually divebombing to protect their nests in the dunes...not happy with me being there...I was though
