Winter in the City...NYC that is....

It is so cold here right now I am inspired to paint the winter scene...Cherry Lane Theater in the West Village ( I used to live there, the West Village that is) on a snowy evening...loved the light in the windows  at dusk...then of course the Rockefeller Skating rink...Could someone tell me who the statue is of spread out over the waterfall? I like this composition with the big tree not front and center....also love the random figures captured so well!  20x24" oil on canvas

New Selfie....or is it Self Portrait?

Here I am in the studio holding a remnant of the holiday...a Christmas gift, an exotic Amaryllis...wearing my painting gloves...the old cotton church kind found at a booth selling strange stuff at Lyme Rock race track...4th of July Vintage races...they are hard to find...these old gloves...anyway I stood still for an hour or two...this is what I saw and felt that day    16x20 oil on canvas

Back to Manhattan....the NYC Library

I really loved the very modern buildings cropping up behind the old....the trees catching the light was good too...also the intense abstract patterns on the street were fun ....41st street and 5th Ave looking west...oil on canvas 30x40"

Knappinsky

I love Kandinsky's work...all of those clear colors and wonderful shapes...great eye candy...so I do "interpretations" of them...after going to see the recent show at the NEUE Gallery I am inspired to follow his brush strokes and mix his colors...for a moment I see through his eyes...30x 40 " oil on paper
