Here is the view from my studio... again...after a long day of snow it had finally stopped when I painted this wonderful scene...that unusual moment of quiet and stillness after the storm has passed...30x30" oil on canvas

Turnips in a White Bowl on a White Cloth

I seem to have a fascination recently with this white bowl and cloth...I like the subtlety of the colors it creates in different lights and with different vegetables and fruits ...in this case the green leaves on the turnips and the little red roots were so important to make the painting sing...cool against warm?20x20" oil on canvas

The First Snow

The starlings fly in and land on the young maple tree in the foreground and the distant hills fade into the snow squalls...the wagon tracks hold the new fallen snow leading back to the barn and the warm light on this side of the barn reflects on the snow...what else can I say? I really love this painting and it just sold to a couple of really wonderful men who truly appreciate my work! Thank you...oil on canvas 36x48"

Before The Snow Flies in Alford Ma.

Here is our valley in the late Autumn afternoon...the cows are just walking into this field and the sun is going to set soon...it got dark as I painted this scene...it does take quite a while to paint something like this standing on the side of the road...the big plant in the foreground is some Poke weed...gorgeous purple color berries... oil on canvas 30x40"

Hostas and Hydrangia After the Frost

The leaves of the Hosta Lilies were so wonderfully golden in color after the first frost that I had to paint them...I love the sculptural feeling that the veins in the leaves create .... all the colors of the painting are really great together, my humble opinion...30x40" oil on canvas 

Sun Setting in Manhattan

The exact location of this painting is not so clear to me now...I know it was midtown..5th Ave? I know that is Harry Winston's diamond store on the corner...the people are long gone from that moment in time...the feeling I had when I painted it is still with me...the painting is in Hudson NY at 510 Warren St Gallery until December... go see it, it's a beauty... just like Manhattan...oil on canvas 36x48"

Some Kind of Pears or Perhaps Pairs?

 

These are actually the pears I like to paint...the beautiful ones...with lots of color and funny shapes...the ones that are fun to look at...and by the time I get around to painting them ,  they have gone by the time to be eaten...for some reason I am enjoying the white cloths and bowls...pale and reflective...oil on canvas 16x20"

Berkshire Autumn Millpond West Stockbridge

There is a lovely millpond in West Stockbridge Ma that one can really only see well from Robin's backyard where we were fortunate enough to paint...I love the cool color of the pond and the reflections of the sky up against the warm Autumn shades...It was a pleasure to spend the morning standing next to the water...always....oil on canvas  24x30"

Westside Block Island View

This is actually our screened in porch and the view on a hot Autumn afternoon...Flowers picked around the yard, a few left here and there...the sun streams in and the flag flies...nothing like a water view to clear the mind...30x40" oil on canvas

Dories Cove Rock as the sun sets and the color of the water changes again...I will never tire of this subject because...it always changes....
Boats behind the Hog pen...I love the reflections and the bird just floated by...painted on most recent week out there ....September with painting class...oil on canvas   24x24"

Crescent Beach Block Island Two Views

 

I look up the beach and see the Surf Hotel and other buildings , and the Ferry Boat at the dock of course....then I look the other direction and see the distant bluff up by Mansion Beach ...Summer days, summer views...watercolor and gouache. on paper..16x20"

On The Block Island Porch

 

A couple of bouquets out on our porch which I just really wanted to paint...there is nothing like a porch in the heat of summer with some divine flowers to spend time with...watercolor and gouache on paper 22x30"

Iska's House is For Sale in the Berkshires

Every time I go to Iska's house to paint I fall in love all over again...such a romantic and beautiful home filled with the most amazing art and furniture shipped from her old family homestead in Poland which was taken  over by the Nazis back when... here it is alive and well and I am surrounded by the opera playing throughout the rooms as I paint...when the house sells(a great deal , see it at "Storybook  Homes ")amazing....watercolor and gouache on hotpressed Arche Paper  22x30"
